GSS data explorer

Visit NORC's (National Opinion Research Center)  GSS Data Explorer for detailed information about variables used in the GSS. Click "Search Variables" to view the variables. Try typing a variable name such as "spanking" Hover mouse over the Description of each variable to see how the question was worded.

To look at the questionnaire, click Publications and in the drop down menu choose GSS questionnaires. V1-V6: Sections A-K- Core, Ballots 1-6—look at the Manual Map Berkeley  Archive:  http://sda.berkeley.edu/archive.htm Choose  GSS 1972-2006 – Quick Tables Click on Politics and Voting by Background Variables Explore the column variables (background variable) Explore the row variables (political id.) Choose Bar Chart You may also want to try the following: go back to  GSS 1972-2006 – Cumulative Datafile Row (choose a variable you’re interested in)—notice that the names are very specific-- "abany" Column (choose sex)
